Relevance to Cox’s Road: Cox’s Road opened up the western areas to European settlement. ‘Settlers Cottage’
provides us with a glimpse of some of the environmental consequences of closer settlement. The photograph is
an aerial view of the cottage, the lane and the creek line. The contour banks were constructed in the 1960s to
help control rampant soil erosion.
