Location: Off signposted track head on Mount York Road about 2.2km from Great Western Highway.

Altitude, Lat/Long at Track Head: 1061m AHD; -33.5654, 150.2305;

Time required at site: about 4.5km one way – 2hrs to Hartley Vale Picnic area

Relevance to Cox’s Road: Lockyers Pass is the last section of Lockyers Road (1828/1820) ascending Mount York, designed to provide an easier grade than was provided by Cox’s Pass. It remains an unfinished road due to the rivalry that existed between Sir Thomas Mitchell and Major Lockyer.
