Relevance to Cox’s Road: Lockyers Pass is the last section of Lockyers Road (1828/1820) ascending Mount York, designed to provide an easier grade than was provided by Cox’s Pass. It remains an unfinished road due to the rivalry that existed between Sir Thomas Mitchell and Major Lockyer.
