Location: Coming from Bathurst turn right at the traffic lights in Blackheath on the Great western Highway and then immediately left onto Station Street and then right into Shipley Road and proceed to the intersection of Shipley Road and Megalong Road. The Shipley road runs south west about 5.5km to the Shipley Plateau. The Megalong Road runs mainly south for around 22km.

Relevance to Cox’s Road: The Megalong Valley is a sub-section of the greater Cox’s River Valley, arguably an easier way to cross the Blue Mountains, and the location of a number of Aboriginal routes that link with Cox’s Road.
