Relevance to Cox’s Road: A recent archaeological find, located when reconstructing the Great Western Highway through Lawson. A sample of Mitchells Road has been carefully reconstructed at this site, demonstrably illustrating the greatly improved road building techniques implemented by Sir Thomas Mitchell post Cox’s Road, with the much greater resources and man power at his disposal, compared with the hurriedly built bush track constructed by William Cox and his very much smaller road building team.
