Location: Travelling from Lithgow turn right into Wallerawang at Barton Avenue, continue along road turning right into Lake Wallace and stop at the large granite boulder with a platypus-yabby sculpture, a memorial to Charles Darwin’s visit to Wallerawang Station in 1836.

Relevance to Cox’s Road: Wallerawang, a sheep station, was near the road to Mudgee and could be accessed via Mitchell’s new line of road, one of a number of roads that superseded Cox’s Road.
