96. Springwood Creek-Birdwood Gully walk – Lewin’s 1815 painting:

Location: Coming from Faulconbridge turn left off the GWH at the traffic lights at Boomerang Road and follow the U-shaped road into Bednal Road parking near the entrance to the walking track at Birdwood Gully Reserve. The 2.5 km track follows the Springwood Creek and eventually heads west through Madoline Glen and exits via the Junction of Lucinda Avenue and Bednal Road

Altitude, Lat/Long: 359m AHD;-33.6966,150.5586;

Time required at site: 1.5 hrs

Relevance to Cox’s Road: This bushland with elements of rainforest, is immediately adjacent to Cox’s Line of Road. William Cox’s road building team would likely have cleared similar trees to those within the reserve. This circular walking track reminds us that this is the environment that edged Cox’s Road in this particular location.
